RESEARCH

Dr. Burns is interested in personality assessment and the impact of personality in the workplace. Other projects focus on personnel selection, the history of I/O Psychology, and quantitative methodology.

Example Research Projects in Progress include:

  • Development of an AB5C Short Form
  • Personality Predictors of Maximum and Typical Performance Over Time
  • True Score and Faking Variance in Personality Assessment
  • Visual Job Analysis: A Neural Network Approach to Job Classification

Dr. Burns lab is the Workplace Personality Project (WPP). This laboratory is part of an international project spanning 4 countries (USA, Canada, Germany, Belgium). The purpose of the WPP is to explore the diverse roles of personality in the workplace and to better inform practitioners about how to take personality into account.
