WELCOME

Dr. Gooden was born and raised in Washington D.C., he attended Howard University where he earned a B.S. in psychology in 1991.  After Howard, he pursued graduate study in social psychology at Ohio State, where he earned a master’s degree in 1994 and his Ph.D. in 1997. Upon completing graduate study, he worked as market researcher for Nationwide Insurance where he was responsible for managing customer satisfaction, as well as developing strategies to improve customer retention.  In his spare time, he returned to an earlier passion - collegiate style wrestling - serving as the head wrestling coach for a local high school in Bexley, Ohio. In April 2002, he decided to return to academe and in September of 2002 he became the first African-American to join the psychology department faculty at Wright State.
